Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund raises more than $355,000 through 2026

GOUVERNEUR -- The Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund has raised more than $355,000 this year, with more than $325,000 as part of the organization's annual walk.

The organization has played a key role in supporting breast and ovarian cancer patients and survivors as they weather hardships during time of treatment, with all funds raised being used to support those in need.

President Terry Pistolesi recently wrote about the experience at the 25th annual walk, held earlier this month, saying the event was an unforgettable one.

"The day was filled with sunshine, joy, laughter, inspiration, friendship, support and love- an unforgettable experience for everyone who attended," she said.

She said the walk and subsequent funds raised will be essential to support those battling the disease.

"Every dollar advances our mission and. Helps us assist those in need living in St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis and Franklin counties. So far in 2026, we have distributed more than $165,000 to breast and ovarian cancer patients in our local communities! Saying thank you hardly feels sufficient," she said.

Pistolesi said the organization remains ready to support those in need as she and board members remain committed to the mission.

"As long as breast and ovarian cancer remain challenges in our community, the Gouverneur Breast and Ovarian Cancer Fund will stand strong. With the support of people like you who believe in our mission, no one will have to face this journey alone," she said.

Though the 25th annual walk was just completed, Pistolesi said the organization has already begun planning for the 26th annual walk, which is slated for Oct. 2, 2027.

"We hope you will keep us in mind as you plan your 2027 advertising and charitable giving time and budget. In the meantime, if you or someone you know is diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer, please contact us so we can help," she said.
