CANTON -- Gloria J. Johnson, 78, of Canton, New York, went to be with her Heavenly Father November 4, 2026.
Gloria was born on March 16, 1948, and was raised in Hermon, New York, the daughter of Charles and Barbara Johnson. After completing college at the State University of Geneseo, she devoted her career to teaching Special Needs Children through BOCES in Gouverneur, where her patience, kindness, and belief in every student made a lasting difference in the lives of the children and families she served.
After retiring, Gloria enjoyed new adventures, living in Forest City, North Carolina and Dade City, Florida, before returning home to the North Country and settling in Canton, NY.
Wherever she lived, some of her happiest times were spent at the family camp on Long Pond.
Gloria was a gifted and avid seamstress. Her quilts and handmade clothing were treasured by friends and family, each piece a reflection of the care she put into everything she made for the people she loved. She also adored her cats, Missy and Crossby.
She is survived by her son, Mark, (Lisa), her two grandchildren, Zachary and Jacob and her brother, Charles “CV” Johnson, (Michelle). She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Barbara Johnson. She leaves behind her close friends, and cousins.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday November 13th at 2 PM at Maple Grove Cemetery in Richville NY.
