Girls basketball camp to be held at St. Lawrence University June 23-27

The St. Lawrence University's girls basketball camp is designed to provide younger basketball athletes with an opportunity to learn, share and prepare for their upcoming season.

June 23 - June 27, 2017.

The girls basketball camp features:

* Individual Improvement - Serious players will be able to receive one-on-one instruction from camp staff. Individual programs can be developed to allow the elite player to improve their game.

* Supervised scrimmage - Campers can apply skills they learn in one-on one, two-on-two, three-on-three or five-on five full court play.

* Girl campers will have their shot analysis done with a 94Fifty ball which determines speed of shot, rotations per second, and the arc on the ball.

* Recreation - Campers will have access to the swimming pool, Sullivan Student Center, and game room.

Campus Information

Meals- All meals will be prepared and served by the University dining services and include an all-you-can-eat buffet. Campers will also be able to purchase items at the concession stand.

Accommodations- All lodging will be in a University dormitory and there will be 24 hour supervision by camp staff and University security.

Cost - $365 per player, overnight / $315 per player, commuter with lunch and dinner / $265 per player, commuter with lunch only

Facilities

Basketball Courts- Climate controlled Newell Field House has four full-sized courts and eight outdoor courts are available around the athletic complex. There are five full sized outdoor courts and campers will have access to the Burkman Gymnasium, home of the Saints men's and women's basketball teams.

Swimming pool- An indoor swimming pool is available to all campers. Certified lifeguards are on site at all times.

Weight Training Room- St. Lawrence has a brand new state-of-the-art weight training facility that is available to all campers. Elite athletes are sure to take advantage of the expertise of the Saints strength and conditioning coach to establish a personalized program.

Games Room- Includes a variety of arcade games as well as pool tables. The game room also has many tables to allow the campers to enjoy a snack from the concession and socialize with other campers.

Meet the Coach: Dan Roiger, Head Women's Basketball Coach at St. Lawrence University

Dan Roiger has been the St. Lawrence Women’s Basketball Head Coach for the past seven seasons. During those years, the Saints have won four Liberty League championships. They became the first team to have a perfect League season (16-0 in 2012) and also own the second most League wins in a season (14-2 in 2014). In the seven years Coach Roiger has led the Saints, they have a 132-52 record including 83-25 record in the Liberty League. They are the only team to make the playoffs all seven seasons and have the best record of any team in the League over that span.

Coach Roiger was named the Liberty League Coach of the Year in 2013-14 and 2011-12 and has now won four Coach of the Year awards in his 11 seasons as a head coach. At St. Lawrence, he has coached 18 All-Conference Players, three All-Freshmen Team players including one Freshman of the Year, and two Defensive Players of the Year and a MVP. In addition, a total of 33 players were named to the All-Academic Team. The 2011-12 team received national recognition when they received the WBCA Top 25 National Academic Award when it finished seventh in the nation in team GPA out of more than 400 colleges.

Prior to coaching at St. Lawrence, Coach Roiger was at Northland College (WI) for five seasons where he led his team to the playoffs four times and won one regular season championship and one tournament championship. The 19 wins the team recorded in 2008-09 were the most recorded in program history as an NCAA school. While at Northland, he coached one Player of the Year and two Freshmen of the year among his numerous All-Conference Players. His team also earned a National Top 25 Academic Award from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

A graduate of the University of Wisconsin at Madison, he earned his both a bachelor’s and a master's degree at Madison and also earned a BA in education from Mankato State University. A native of Wausau, WI, he also served as an assistant athletic director at Northland.
