OGDENSBURG -- Members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and local government will gather at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 19 at the Dobisky Center for the kickoff of National Safe Boating Week May 19 to 25.
The first 50 people to bring their life jackets will receive an emergency whistle to attach to their PFD.
Free vessel safety checks will also be available from 9 to 11 a.m.; bring your boat by water or trailer.
National Safe Boating Week is the official launch of the 2018 North American Safe Boating Campaign.
The yearlong campaign promotes boating safety and voluntary, consistent wearing of life jackets by recreational boaters through the national theme, “Wear It”!
