Fourth of five candidates for SUNY Potsdam president to be on campus Feb. 27 and 28

POTSDAM -- Dr. Beth Rushing of St. Mary’s College in Maryland is coming to the SUNY Potsdam campus Thursday and Friday as the fourth of five semi-finalists for the presidency.

Rushing is vice president for academic affairs and dean of the faculty at St. Mary's. She has served as vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Washington-Tacoma, and as dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Georgia College.

Before that, she was chair of the department of sociology, anthropology, social work and criminal justice at the University of Tennessee at Martin, and was a faculty member at Kent State University.

Rushing earned her bachelor's degree at Carson-Newman College and both her master's and Ph.D. in sociology at Duke University.

Two open forums will be held for the campus community and the public to become acquainted with Rushing, Thursday, Feb. 27 from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. in Dunn Theater, and Friday, Feb. 28 from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. in the 8th floor dining room in Raymond Hall.

Following the forums, the campus community is invited to provide feedback about the candidate through an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PotsdamBethRushing.
