Four Knights earn USCSA All-Eastern Regional spots in Alpine skiing

Reaching the USCSA Nationals for the seventh straight year together, the Clarkson University Men's and Women's Alpine Ski teams were well-represented on the USCSA All-Eastern Regional squads released earlier this week.

Though she was the only female skier in the top 15 for the Golden Knights, Kara Van Herwarde had the top spot among all Golden Knight participants last weekend, finishing second overall to gain USCSA All-Eastern Regional First-Team honors. She placed third in the slalom on Saturday, finishing her two runs in 1:49.87, and then used a fifth-place showing in the giant slalom, with a time of 1:42.67, to gain her lofty spot in the regionals.

The men had three skiers in the top six, with two making the cut for USCSA All-Eastern Regional First-Team. Sean Donohue had an up and down regular season, but showed why he has earned MacConnell Division All-Star honors in the past by taking the third overall spot in the USCSA Eastern Regionals. Donohue finished seventh in the slalom with a two-run time of 1:45.87 and then topped that placement by coming in third in the giant slalom on Sunday with a time of 1:39.30. One spot behind Donohue in fourth place was sophomore Hayes Lowth, who took fifth (1:44.74) in the slalom and ninth (1:40.33) in the giant slalom. Joining Donohue and Lowth, but on the USCSA All-Eastern Regional Second-Team, was freshman Greg Murray. The first-year collegian ended his slalom run in sixth place overall with a tiem of 1:45.86 and then backed that up by taking 12th in the giant slalom in 1:40.46.

The Golden Knights head to Oregon next week to compete in the USCSA Nationals at Mt. Bachelor.
