COLTON -- On Saturday, July 28 the Town of Colton will hold its annual Flea Market at its Pavilion on Sugar Bush Lane in the hamlet of South Colton from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Also garage/yard sales will be held throughout town from Friday through Sunday. And this year the Racquette Valley Fish & Game Club will have a Flea Market at its facility at 233 Cold Brook Drive in South Colton on both Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.

The town’s large covered Pavilion on Sugar Bush Lane sits behind the Post Office in South Colton and next to Swift Field. Signs will be posted at the corner of State Highway 56 and Sugar Bush Lane to direct people to the Pavilion. Food and drinks will be provided by the Colt’s Pride Booster Club at the Pavilion; and bathroom facilities will be open to the public. The overflow space will be in the town’s Community Center along Sugar Bush Lane.

Vendors of all types will be at the Flea Markets. Anyone wishing to sell at the Pavilion should contact Sue Ames (262-2936) where single spaces measuring 10x10 feet cost $10 and double spaces are $15 with vendors supplying their own tables and chairs. Fees paid for spaces at the Pavilion support Town of Colton Tourism & Beautification activities.

Maps prepared for the Tourism & Beautification Committee by local resident Bob Blickwedehl show the locations of weekend sales throughout town, including the sites of the two Flea Markets and the many individual garage/yard sales. The maps will be available at the Town Office on Main Street on Thursday and Friday as well as at the two information centers in town which are open daily from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Colton Information Center at Stone Valley is located in Museum on Main Street; and the Raquette River Information Center is on State Highway 56 in South Colton across from the Post Office. On Saturday shoppers also can pick up maps at the Tourism & Beautification Committee’s table in the Pavilion.
