Firefighers work to put out a blaze in Hammond on Sunday morning.
HAMMOND -- A fire completely destroyed a home at 2923 County Route 6 Sunday morning, according to St. Lawrence County Fire Investigator Joe Lacks.
A woman living in the home and sleeping at the time was alerted to the blaze by a fire alarm and was able to escape without injury, Lacks said.
The home was reportedly occupied by Nancy Thomas-Measheau.
Firefighters from Morristown, Hammond and Brier Hill battled the blaze at about 7:15 a.m. but were unable to save the residence which was full engulfed upon arrival, he said.
