Patrick Doherty scored two goals and assisted on a third as St. Lawrence University's men's hockey team enjoyed one of its most productive nights of the season in a 7-1 rout of Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink Friday night.

The Saints, who earned a point on Friday night for the third consecutive week, received goals from six different players and had four assists from defenseman Gavin Bayreuther as they outshot Princeton 50-25 and put up the most goals since a 8-5 win at Dartmouth in November. Despite the point fest, senior forward Greg Carey was held off the scoresheet for the second straight game, although he was a big part of the Saint offense and power play with a number of shots on goal which were kicked out by Princeton goaltender Colton Phinney.

SLU, now 10-15-3 overall and 4-8-3 in the ECAC will face a somewhat tougher task on Saturday as they travel to third-ranked Quinnipiac to complete the weekend series. Saturday's game will be streamed on ESPN 3.

Doherty had his biggest night since that Dartmouth game in putting up his third multi-point game of the year. He scored the first on a tip of a power play shot by Bayreuther as he was stationed in the center slot and redirected the shot past Phinney, who was outstanding despite giving up the seven goals. The Princeton rookie netminder kept it a 1-0 game with 19 of his 43 saves in the first 20 minutes.

Doherty made it a 2-0 game 8:55 into the second when he finished off a passing play from Bayreuther to Gunnar Hughes, making a nice move in front to put the puck past Phinney after taking Hughes pass. While Princeton got one back when freshman Ryan Siiro scored from point blank range at the side of the net at 9:56 on a Princeton power play, that was the only puck the Tigers could get past Weninger, who made 24 saves for his sixth win in eight appearances against Princeton.

The Saints had a quick response to the Princeton goal as Justin Baker, who had a three point night and has six points in his last two starts, scored his seventh of the year, one-timing a pass from Woody Hudson past Phinney at the 12:00 mark and Matt Carey completed second period scoring with his 16th of the season from Baker and Bayreuther at 15:35 on a power play.

The Saints iced it with a three goal third as Hughes took a goal mouth pass from Doherty and redirected it for his fourth of the season at 1:19, Hudson scored his fourth of the year from Bayreuther and Baker on a deflection at 6:31 and Brian Ward scored his seventh of the season on his own rebound from Kyle Essery at 16:12.
