CANTON – A Canton woman was air-lifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Vermont after the vehicle she was driving crashed into a tractor trailer Saturday afternoon on U.S. Highway 11, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
However, at least person who came upon the accident scene told NorthCountryNow.com she was outside of her car crossing the road when she was hit.
According to the deputies' account, Lisa S. Hendricks-Dusharm, 42, 44 Crusher Rd., was reportedly driving south on U.S. Highway 11 around 2:20 p.m. when for an undetermined reason she went into the northbound lane of travel and struck a tractor trailer being driven by Andrew M. Harris, 54, McGraw.
Hendricks-Dusharm was transported by Canton Rescue to Potsdam Airport where she was flown to Fletcher-Allen Medical Center in Burlinton, Vt., for treatment of injuries to her legs, deputies said.
Officers said there was no indication of wrong doing by Harris and that drugs or alcohol did not seem to be a factor.
Deputies said their investigation is still open.
