CANTON -- Deep Root Center for Self-Directed Learning, which hopes to establish itself as a new educational option in the North Country, will begin operations at 15 Main Street, above the MacFadden, Dier, Leonard Insurance Agency.
Deep Root Center, a learning resource center for young people 8 to 18 years old, intends to provide kids the tools to explore who themselves, what they want to do, and where they want to go with abundant support and mentoring from staff and other adults in the community.
The program is specifically aimed at home-schooled students.
The center opens a pilot program in January and is actively recruiting students.
An open house is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Canton Free Library.
A team from North Star: Self-directed Learning for Teens in Hadley, Mass., will present their stories.
