Debra A. Parmeter (Bosket), 67

Posted

Debra A. Parmeter (Bosket), 67, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday evening, January 19, 2024.

She passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Deb was preceded in death by her Paternal Grandparents, Merle and Lois Bosket, her Maternal Grandparents, Eugene and Nina Hall, and her parents, Dorwin and Anita Bosket.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Stephen Parmeter; daughter, Kelly Parmeter, sister, Linda (Gary) Bundas, brother, Larry Bosket, nieces, Robin (Travis) Riley, Kali Bundas, nephews, Bryan (Jessica) Rafael, Kyle (Catilyn) Bundas, and devoted fur children, Jeter and Drama.

Deb was a stellar athlete, winning many awards and accolades in volleyball, basketball, and softball while starting for both the Chenango Forks Central School District and Broome Community College.

She was also valedictorian of her graduating class and went on to a very successful lifelong career as an Information Technology Specialist for IBM Endicott.

Deb was a devout Christian and a regular attendee of Bridgewater Baptist Church. Her dry wit and twisted sense of humor were both a blessing and a curse to those who knew her well.

In her later years, she battled through a brain tumor and multiple cancer diagnoses. She never complained and fought to her final breath, and her courage and fortitude will remain a permanent inspiration to those she has left behind.

Deb was the glue of our family, and the pain of her loss will leave a scar that will never heal.

The family would like to thank the 911 staff and Chenango Ambulance EMTs who so professionally helped transport Deb to the hospital for the final time.

They would also like to thank the many members of the UHS Wilson Medical Center staff who assisted Deb through her final, difficult journey.

The team in the oncology center became like a second family to her during the months that she navigated the difficult pathway involved with fighting her cancer. The emergency room doctors and nurses tried so hard to save her in her final hours, and their efforts were noticed and appreciated.

To Sam, Jessica, and the rest of the Wilson ICU staff, thank you for the loving care that you showed Deb during her final hours, as well as the respect and compassion you gave to her family members during one of the most difficult days of their lives. You made a difference and it truly helped.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 27 at 12 PM. The family will receive friends from 11 am until the start of the service.

Both the visiting hour and funeral service will be held at the Barber Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City.

For those who wish to attend the service but can't do so in person, a live stream can be viewed at www.barbermemorialhome.com.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Congratulations, Deb, on a life well lived. Our lives are all a little richer because we shared them with you, and we will cherish the memories until that glorious day when we are safe by your side once again.

Psalm 23:6b: …and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
