Congresswoman Elise Stefanik’s campaign has released a list of union endorsements of her candidacy for a third term, but this time it did not include support from New York State United Teachers (NYSUT).
The NYSUT endorsement this year has gone to Tedra Cobb, Democrat from Canton, for the North Country's 21st Congressional District seat.
Two years ago the 600,000-member New York teachers union endorsed Stefanik for re-election after her first term, but this year they changed their minds.
Cobb’s announcement Aug. 9 was followed the next day by a list of unions or their PACs supporting Stefanik: the National Postal Mail Handlers Union, the National Association of Postal Supervisors, the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Air Line Pilots Association PAC, Allied Pilots Association, the National Treasury Employees Union, the Painters & Allied Trades Union, the Laborers Union (LIUNA) PAC, International Association of Fire Fighters, the Plumbers/Pipefitters Union (United Association PAC), the Carpenters & Joiners Union, the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, and the Operating Engineers Union.
