BY ADAM ATKINSONNorth Country This WeekPOTSDAM -- Two upcoming public information sessions will be held concerning an electricity supply contract for the village of Canton's and town of Potsdam's community choice aggregation programs.
The CCA programs essentially function like buyers' clubs for residential electricity. Both municipalities contract with the firm Joule Community Power to manage each of the CCA programs.
Joule will host the information sessions which will detail an upcoming bid to consider an electricity contract to supply the CCA members in each community.
The hearing for the Village of Canton will be Wednesday, March 27 at 5:30 p.m. in person at the municipal building boardroom, 60 Main St., in Canton. The hearing for the Town of Potsdam will be Thursday, March 28 at 6 p.m. at the town hall, 18 Elm St.

If either of the municipalities selects a supplier, eligible residents and businesses who are participating in the CCA will receive a letter with their choices and info about how to opt-out if they choose.
