Trick or treaters will need to bundle up tonight when going door-to-door for candy and other treats as forecasters are calling for a cold Halloween night.
Persistent southwesterly flow will cause lake effect showers across parts of the southern Saint Lawrence valley and Northern Adirondacks today as high winds will continue this morning before tapering off this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
There is a 40 percent chance of rain before 2 p.m. today with a high near 48 and winds of 10 to 17 miles per hour and gusts of 29 mph, the service says. The overnight low will be around 35.
Rain will likely return Wednesday night with showers possible Thursday and Friday as well, the service says.

Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. South wind 3 to 8 mph.
Wednesday Night
Showers likely, mainly between 7pm and 4am. Cloudy, with a low around 40. Calm wind becoming southeast around 6 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
Thursday
Showers likely, mainly between 7am and noon. Cloudy, with a high near 58. South wind 9 to 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Showers. Low around 51. South wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
