OGDENSBURG -- Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center has been awarded a three-year accreditation in breast ultrasound after a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Ultrasound imaging is a noninvasive medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce images of body parts to help physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions.
“This ultrasound accreditation completes our goal of having all of our imaging modalities accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR),” said Debbie King, director of radiology and the “Connection for Women.” “I am very proud of my staff for the hard work they have put forth which has enabled Claxton-Hepburn’s imaging department to become totally ACR certified.”
Board-certified physicians and medical physicists award the accreditation only to facilities meeting practice guidelines and technical standards after a peer-review evaluation.
Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which provides the hospital with a comprehensive report for possible improvement.
