A career day for senior goalkeeper Anna Demasi was not enough as the Clarkson University Women's Soccer team fell to fifth-ranked William Smith 6-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Clarkson is now 8-6-2 overall and 0-5-2 in the Liberty League while William Smith is 12-1-1 overall and 7-0 in conference.
The two teams were evenly matched through the first 40 minutes, but the Herons broke through when Ella McMakin scored at 40:43 and then Lauren Randaccio doubled the lead with a goal at 43:14.
Brie Ruane added a third goal three minutes into the second half. Shay Callahan scored at 59:39 and Randaccio scored her second goal of the game at 75:36. MacKenzie Smith closed out the scoring with a goal at 86:51.
William Smith had a 27-2 shot advantage and a 12-2 edge in corner kicks. In goal Demasi had a career high 12 saves in goal for Clarkson.
Clarkson will play its final game of the season next Saturday when the Green and Gold travels to neighboring St. Lawrence for a 1:00 pm game.
