MACEDON -- The top four scorers for the Clarkson University Golf team finished in the top half of all competitors at the ECAC Metro/Upstate Championhips as the Golden Knights concluded the two-day event in a tie for second place in the tournament held at the par 72 Blue Heron Hills Country Club.
The Golden Knights were in second place among the nine teams after the opening day and then held on to finish in a tie for second.
St. John Fisher won the event with a low team score of 602, followed by Clarkson (631), St. Lawrence (631), Potsdam (646), Oswego (660), Elmira (663), Hobart (668), Nazareth (677), and Utica (716).
Sophomore Tyler Cline (Tuxedo, NY) finished in second place among 45 golfers at the event with a score of 148 (76-72), just two strokes off the pace.
Freshman Evan Cody (Malta, NY) produced an outstanding first day, but fell back to the pack on the second day, finishing with a score of 158 (73-85) and in a tie for 11th. Classmate Scott Henning (Vienna, VA) took a day to get used to the course before making a strong charge with a 160 (85-75) for a 16th-place finish.
Another freshman, Matt Blair (South Glens Falls, NY) scored a 165 (82-83) to come in a tie for 21st, and Mike Mailhot (Massena, NY) rounded out the Clarkson golfers with a 178 (91-87) to tie for 37th.
