POTSDAM – Clarkson University Women’s Basketball has a new head coach.

Maureen Webster, who earned both anundergraduate degree in psychology and a master's degree in education from SUNY Potsdam, spent the last year as the head women's basketball coach at SUNY Delhi.

Prior to her stint with the Broncos, Webster was an assistant coach for her alma mater for three years and also assisted at SUNY Canton for one season following the completion of her undergraduate work at Potsdam. She replaces John Hampton, who moved on to become an assistant coach at Rider University.

"It's a tremendous honor to be chosen as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Clarkson University," Webster said. "I am very excited to be back in the North Country and have the opportunity to work at such a great university. I am eager to start working with the student-athletes and continue building on the success that Coach Hampton achieved."

"We couldn't be happier that Maureen has agreed to be our next women's basketball coach," Clarkson Athletic Director Steve Yianoukos said. "She is certainly one of the rising young coaches in the region and she has a great deal of enthusiasm for the game. Her familiarity with Potsdam and the North Country in general is also a huge plus in the recruitment of prospective student-athletes, and we expect her to continue making progress from where former head coach John Hampton left off."

Webster, known then as Maureen Curley, had a solid two-sport career while at SUNY Potsdam from 2005-2009. She played in 108 career basketball games with 104 starting nods, producing 956 points (sixth all-time at Potsdam) and 762 rebounds (second all-time). Her career averages were 8.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while also chipping in 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game. She also shot 76.8% from the free throw line.

As a four-year member of the Bears' women's soccer team, she recorded 12 points on three goals and six assists in 63 career games.
