At Shiloh, future presidents Ulysses S. Grant, in command of the Federal Army of Tennessee, and James A. Garfield, in command of a brigade in the Federal Army of the Ohio, earned a hard-won victory over Confederate forces.
The sixth New York Heavy Artillery from Northern New York took part in the fighting. The public is invited.
