Canton woman charged with falsely reporting information related to March burglary

CANTON – A Canton woman was charged for providing a false statement following a burglary that occurred in March, according to state police.

On March 24, 2016, Shelly L. Shirley, 44 of Ellis Rd., Canton, reported to state police her residence had been burgled while she was in jail on charges for allegedly malnourishing a child.

She said personal papers and electronics were stolen.

State police investigated the burglary and on June 6, 2016, Kelly S. Villnave, 49, of Canton was arrested for false written statement.

Also related to the incident was the April 10 arrest of Lisa J. Fuller, 34 of Potsdam, who was charged for three counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.

Fuller was charged with thee counts of fourth criminal possession of stolen property, for possessing and using Shirley's EBT card at three different locations in the town of Potsdam and the town of Stockholm.

Fuller was also charged with criminal possession of stolen property, for possessing and selling the X-box she stole from Shirley at Mo'Money Pawn Shop, in the town of Bombay.

Fuller was arraigned before Town Justice James Monroe, Canton Court, where she was remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond. Fuller is to reappear in Canton Court on April 14, at 1 p.m.
