CANTON – For decades, Canton Winterfest has served as a way for Canton and Canton area residents to treat cases of cabin fever.
This year, the Canton Rotary Club will continue that tradition by hosting a Cabin Fever Reliever Dinner on Feb. 29 at the 1844 House, Rt. 11, Potsdam.
The event also inspires the Canton Rotary Club’s motto, “Service Above Self” with net proceeds from the dinner earmarked for the Church & Community Program food pantry.
“The members of Rotary believe that they have a shared responsibility to take action on our world’s most persistent issues,” stated Kathryn L. Mullaney, Canton Rotary Club president. “One way the Canton club does this is by supporting the Church and Community Program food pantry, contributing over $10,000 over the last seven years.”
The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. at a cost of $75 per person. The menu includes a choice of soup or salad, entree choices of Dijon salmon, airline chicken, ribeye steak with demi-glaze, or vegetarian seasonal risotto served with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and a dessert of mousse or pie. Takeout dinners will be available.
Interested diners need to call Jeanne Tyo-Martin at (315) 379-1520 or text Mullaney at (315) 244-9803 by Feb. 22.
“The mission of the Church and Community Program is, in turn, to provide food, clothing and other essentials to those in need by using the funds that the Canton Rotary Club can raise,” Mullaney said.
Canton Winterfest 2024 will be coordinated by the St. Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce with details to be announced at a later date.
