Canton Central School board approves appointments, resignation

CANTON -- The Canton Central School Board of Education made several appointments at its Jan. 10 meeting.

The school board made approved some appointments and a resignation.

• The board accepted the resignation of Jessica Devine from the position of cleaner, effective Jan. 4.

• Paul Buell was approved as a long-term substitute for music teacher Robert Bickford, effective Jan. 22, through March 4, 2019. His pay rate will be $118 per day for the first 10 days (to be paid retroactive to the first of 10 consecutive days, which does not include days when school is not in session). This appointment is pending final administrative clearance.

• Cynthia Curtis was appointed a long-term substitute for teacher aide Anne Zimmer, effective retroactively to Dec. 10 through about March 10.

• Trevor Moody was appointed as a cleaner (probationary), effective retroactively to Jan. 7 at a prorated salary of $28,074.

• Linda Smith was approved as a long-term substitute for teaching assistant Connie Bessette, effective retroactively to Jan. 7 through Jan. 28. She will be paid at a rate of $11.10 per hour for the first 10 days (to be paid $112 per day retroactively to the first 10 consecutive days, which does not apply when school is not in session). This is an extension to the appointment that was approved Oct. 18.

• The board approved the following substitutes for positions they are certified or qualified for: Katie Clemmer, Amber Daniels, Jennifer Demers, Emily Phippen and Maria Vecchio.
