CANTON — The Canton Central School Board of Education honored the girl’s swim team with a resolution for their success during swim meets and academic excellence.
More than 30 members of the swim team attended the board meeting on Thursday, Jan. 19, where they were honored for their historic fifth consecutive undefeated season in Section 10 swimming competition.
“We’ve always had a strong swimming program at Canton Central,” said Superintendent William Gregory.
The team has now won 64 consecutive swim meets.
The team also earned the New York State Public High School Athletics Association's designation as a Scholar-Athlete Team for academic excellence for the past four years.
“The team's individual and collective efforts have yielded an unprecedented number of championship and record-setting seasons, thereby reflecting distinct credit upon themselves, our school, and our larger educational community,” the resolution said.
The team is coached by Meg McGovern and Aggie Toth serves as the assistant coach.
