Ava McCann shot a perfect 3-for-3 from the arc and scored 13 points, but Ithaca edged the St. Lawrence University women's basketball team, 63-57, on senior day in Liberty League play on Saturday afternoon in Burkman Gymnasium.

Erin Kumler scored 12 points, while Dylan Watkiss scored nine points, Katie Frederick recorded three steals and senior Meghan O'Connor grabbed a team-best six rebounds.

Ithaca got an early jump on the Saints and took a 19-14 lead after 10 minutes of play. St. Lawrence pushed back in the second quarter and brought the game back within three at halftime.

A 3-pointer from McCann closed the gap to one with 3:35 to play in the third, but the Bombers extended their lead back to seven just over a minute and a half later.

The Saints continued to battle down the stretch, but the Bombers maintained a single-digit edge over the Saints throughout the fourth quarter for the win.

"We played really well today against a good team," said head coach Dan Roiger. "You can see flashes of what we are capable of doing when we play all phases of the game."

Cassidy O'Malley shot 8-for-13 from the floor and led Ithaca with 18 points, seven rebounds and two blocks, while Abbi Field scored 14 points and Kellyanne O'Reilly also grabbed seven rebounds for the Bombers.

The Saints fell to 7-16 on the season and 4-12 in conference play, while Ithaca improved to 18-5 and 13-3.

Prior to today's contest, the Saints honored the lone senior of the Class of 2019, Meghan O'Connor. "It has been an honor to have Meghan in our program for the last four years," Roiger added. She has always been one of the hardest working players and is such a caring teammate. She has high aspirations for the future, and knowing her, I am sure she will be successful. We wish her the very best."

St. Lawrence will close out the regular season at Rensselaer and Skidmore next weekend.
