POTSDAM -- A New York State Department of Parks and Recreation Marine Unit-sponsored boater safety class is being offered from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 18 at the Potsdam Police Complex Community Room off the Main Street parking lot.
Anyone who wishes to operate a PWC, such as a Jet-Ski or Sea-Doo in New York State is required to successfully complete the course. Those under 14 may not operate a PWC without an adult. All children from 10 years of age to 18 years of age must successfully pass the exam to operate a motorized boat solo in the state.
There is no charge. The course will be taught by volunteer instructors Jim and Sue Corbett.
