NEW PALTZ, N.Y.---The SUNY Potsdam Volleyball team (8-12, 2-4 SUNYAC) fell to both the Fredonia Blue Devils (14-6, 5-1) and New Paltz Hawks (18-4, 6-0) by 3-0 scores on the final day of SUNYAC Pool Play on Saturday.
Fredonia downed the Bears 25-18, 25-15, and 27-25. Sophomore outside hitter Gabby Scott (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) led the Bears with eight kills, two aces and six digs on the afternoon and classmate Nicole Hansen (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) finished with six kills. Sophomore middle hitter Monica Mack (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) totaled four kills, an ace and a block. Senior Brianna Rodda (Holbrook, N.Y./Sachem East) had 22 aces for Potsdam. Junior libero Natalie Magallon (Commerce, Calif./Bell Gardens) had 13 digs while senior defensive specialist Maddie Kaplan (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) had five.
The host Hawks defeated the Bears 25-17, 25-23 and 25-16. Scott added 11 more kills, 15 digs and an ace to her total. Hansen had six digs and an ace. Magallon posted a game-high 23 digs along with an assist. Rodda matched her first contest total with 22 assists to go with seven digs.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday when they host St. Lawrence University at 7 p.m.
