Arlene Ann (Matthews) Jordan, 84, Lisbon

LISBON -- A Mass of Christian Burial for the beautiful soul of Arlene Ann (Matthews) Jordan, age 84 of Lisbon, will be held at 2:00pm on Friday (March 8, 2024) at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, with Father Kevin O’Brien officiating.

Burial will follow at the Morley Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday (March 7, 2024) from 12:00-2:00pm & 5:00-8:00 pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home in Ogdensburg, NY.

Arlene passed away at her home on Friday afternoon (March 1, 2024) surrounded by her loving family.

Arlene was born on June 23, 1939, in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Richard & Vivian (Delaney) Matthews.

Her mother Vivian died in 1944.

Her stepmother Kathleen (Austin) Matthews helped raise her.

Arlene & her sister Gail sang on the radio in Ogdensburg in the early 1950’s, and also entertained around the community during her teen years.

She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1957 and continued her education at the Syracuse Beauty School.

She married the love of her life Michael “Neil” Jordan in 1959. In 1973 Neil & Arlene started “Jordan Farms” in Morley, NY and it operated for thirty-four years.

After Neil’s untimely death in 2000, Arlene continued to run the farm for nearly 8 years with her eldest son, Kelly.

Her fortune was her family. Her children were her treasure. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her “sunshine”.

Her heaven on earth was working beside her husband, raising her children, spending time with her beloved pets, traveling with family to Myrtle Beach, dancing the jitterbug, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events & activities, watching the family band, and gathering with those she loved.

Throughout her life, Arlene opened up her home to friends and family. She especially loved to host those who lived away, always giving them a place to come home to.

Arlene was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Neil, along with sisters, Sarita McCluskey and Kathy Cline; and granddaughter, Frehley Jordan. In addition she was predeceased by her aunts, Ida Bracy and Florence Matthews who were guiding mentors throughout her life.

She is survived by; her son, Kelly Jordan of Morley;, his children, Taylor Abar and Travis Jordan; Kevin & Christine (Couball) Jordan of Watertown; their children, Brendan, Joshua, and Megan; Karla Thompson of Lisbon; her children, Nicholas DeCelles, Danielle Hayes, Abbie and Karli Thompson; Kristopher and Katie(O’Neil) Jordan of Lisbon; their children, Koby, Tucker, Emily, and Alivia; Robert and Shannon(O’Neil) Jordan of Lisbon; their children, Kane, Karter, Teagan, and Ireland. Her great-grandchildren; Oliver, Maverick, Lillian, Aurora, Aspen, and Celia. Also survived by her siblings, Elizabeth Matthews, Gail Butler, Sylvia Griffith, Richard Matthews, Linda Montroy, Robert Matthews, and Delia Smith
