CANTON -- The 10th annual Professional Clothing Fair is set for March 23 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and March 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at SUNY Canton’s Miller Campus Center, Multipurpose Rooms 212-214.
Today’s economic climate is forcing job seekers to compete even harder for a job. Sponsors SUNY Canton and the St. Lawrence County Branch of AAUW are primed to help anyone looking to get a few items of clothing suitable for a job interview, student teaching, the office, or an employment upgrade.
“Gently used” or new clothing and accessories will be available for free, thanks to the generous donations of many North Country organizations and people.
Donations of clean, ready to hang clothing can be dropped off from March 17 to 21 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Donors can use Parking Lot 13 Charitable donation tax receipts using standard valuation charts ere available upon request.
AAUW member Betty Connolly is again the key organizer for this year. She says, “The Professional Clothing Fair is really a community effort to benefit those who need to thin out their closets and those who need to get outfits in which they can look well dressed when they go for a job interview or to work. This year, we see the need more than ever for that North Country spirit of extending a helping hand to others.”
For more information, or to donate clothing or your time to the effort, contact Connolly at 386-7325 or Connolly@canton.edu.
In 2003 AAUW earned a Make a Difference Day Award from USA Weekend magazine for the Clothing Fair in recognition of the spirit of community the event engendered.
