CANTON — Approximately 100 attendees witnessed the ribbon-cutting Thursday evening at the new $23 million St. Lawrence Health System facility, 6119 U.S. Highway 11.
The recently-opened facility is helping address the shortage of healthcare specialists in the area, provide a variety of care that people used to have to travel out of the county to find.
Following a brief formal program, participants joined a tour of the building and viewed a time-lapse photography video of the building’s construction.
The building houses specialists in allergy and immunology, endocrinology, orthopedics and sports medicine, otolaryngology (ENT)—head and neck surgery, and rheumatology, as well as hand therapy.
The new facility will also address space issues at Canton-Potsdam Hospital and at the same time establish a central location for people throughout the county to seek specialized treatment.
