75 doing miscellaneous challenges for 'My Mile for Hospice' fundraiser

Seventy-five people are undertaking a variety of challenges this month in the “My Mile for Hospice” fundraising event to benefit Hospice of the St. Lawrence Valley.

Kay Church, Gouverneur, direct patient volunteer of Hospice for over 20 years, has committed to walking two miles and riding 40 miles on her exercise bike each day. She is “going the extra mile” in memory of her mother, son, and most recently, her husband who were all supported by hospice care at the end of their lives.

She is dedicated to the mission of Hospice and is especially talented in bringing the Music & Memory program to Hospice patients.

Hospice Board Member and volunteer Linda Potter, Canton, is completing her version of a triathlon. She ran four miles, biked 11 miles and kayaked two miles.

“I have been privileged to meet patients and families and hear their stories about the difference that the compassionate care provided by Hospice can make,” she said in her fund-raising statement.

“There is still time to register to participate and to go the extra mile for Hospice. Visit www.mymileforhospice.org for more information,” said Kellie Hitchman, Hospice Director of Development and Community Relations. “We would like to thank each and every one of our 75 participants for going the extra mile for Hospice.”
