OGDENSBURG -- United Helpers officials say they were informed this morning that an employee of United Helpers Rehabilitation and Senior Care has tested positive for COVID-19.

The employee was not symptomatic and has not worked at the facility since April 7, United Helpers said.

On April 13, after testing positive, the employee was placed under quarantine due to what is believed to be a community exposure. The employee is currently at home and is not symptomatic, United Helpers said.

At this time, no residents or staff members are displaying symptoms of COVID-19, UH said.

“Following recommendations from New York State Epidemiology and the St. Lawrence County Public Health, we continue our current protocols for surveillance of staff and symptoms related to COVID-19,” said Steve Knight, United Helpers CEO. “The safety of our residents and staff are always our number one priority.”

United Helpers say they continue to follow guidelines outlined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the NYS Department of Health, NYS Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), NYS Office of Mental Health, St. Lawrence County Public Health, and other governing bodies.
