WADDINGTON — Local cyclist Jake Yaeger of Waddington recently completed an epic number of miles this summer for a cause.

Leaving Barnhart Island, Massena, July 6, he traveled to Ward's Point, Staten Island over four days. He traveled 422.68 miles and accumulated 31 hours of seat time.

Over the last few months, he was able to fundraise $5,515, donating proceeds to World Bicycle Relief, to help mobilize rural frontline health workers worldwide.

He would like to thank his sponsors, friends, family, and co-workers for all the love and support.

"From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” Yaeger said.

He expressed thanks to Boyden Brook - Auto Body and Repair of Canton, Wild Fruits Jam Tarts of Canton, Main Street Perc of Waddington, JC's River Run of Waddington, Nina's Tavern of Gouverneur, Northern Credit Union, St. Lawrence Federal Credit Union, HumanNYC of New York City, Likeminds of New York City, Wilderness Trail Bikes of California, Twin Six of Minnesota, Gobik of Spain, Ascend Sportswear of North Carolina and World Bicycle Relief.

“When I started the World Bicycle Relief campaign this year, I knew $5,500 would be a lot to raise … let alone in only two months,” he said. “I am genuinely touched and blown away by the outpouring generosity and support from you; friends, family, local businesses, and the community. Thanks to your gifts, we have met our goal, but we've also surpassed it.”
