CANTON – Men from Potsdam and Syracuse were arrested Tuesday night in Canton and charged with felony drug counts.
Officers of the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop along State Rt. 310 at 9:10 p.m. July 9 that reportedly turned up 30 grams of crack cocaine, about 32 grams o marijuana, 51 oxycodone pills, and digital scales.
Arrested were Russell P. Snyder Jr., 56, Potsdam, and David L. McCane, 32, Syracuse. Both were charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class B felony, and single counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and fifth-degree possession of marijuana, misdemeanors. McCane was also charged with second-degree criminal impersonation, and was found to be a parole absconder from the state Department of Corrections.
Both men were arraigned in Town of Pierrepont Court before Judge Filiatrault and were remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail pending further court proceedings.
The sheriff’s patrol was assisted by members of the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force, Canton Police Department, Gouverneur Police Department, New York State Police VGNET, and U.S. Border Patrol.
