HOPKINTON — The Town of Hopkinton updated its solar law at its July meeting.
The solar law was revised to clarify residential and commercial, according to Town Supervisor Sue Wood.
The vote was three in favor, one opposed and one member was absent from the meeting.
A public hearing was held via zoom on June 29. “There were a few questions (and) opinions but nothing out of the ordinary,” Wood said.
The solar law states this is intended to promote the effective use of solar energy resources; set provisions for the placement, design, construction, and operation of such systems to uphold the public aesthetic qualities and character of the town. It is also the intent of this to provide adequate safeguards for the location, siting and operation of solar energy facilities, Wood said.
The supervisor said she is unaware of any recent inquiries regarding solar farms in her town.
