OGDENSBURG -- Ogdensburg City School District is unable to live stream its board meetings due to a lack of staff.

OCSD Superintendent Kevin Kendall, in responding to a request from North Country This Week to live stream Board of Education meetings, said his district does not have the staff needed to stream meetings online.

“We did stream the meetings during the time period that the district was closed under the Governor's PAUSE order, but now that conditions have allowed us to resume in person, we will no longer stream the meetings,“ Kendall said.

Massena, Potsdam, Canton and Norwood-Norfolk schools all continue to live stream their meetings. Canton Central had stopped live streaming but changed course after being approached by NCTW.

“We offer a public meeting, as we have the space,” Kendall said.

The public and media are allowed to attend in person in the school’s socially distanced space.

Having meetings live stream has been a common practice for schools and governments since it was required near the start of the pandemic. Many schools and government agencies have continued to live stream as well as allow a limited number of people to attend meetings in person.
