POTSDAM -- The Cancer Services Program of the North Country has partnered with the Canton Potsdam Hospital to offer FREE breast cancer screenings. On Saturday, May 11th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. the Canton Potsdam Hospital will host Mammos in May! Free clinical breast exams and mammograms will be available to all that attend.

According to the American Cancer Society, women age 45 to 54 should have a yearly mammogram.

Finding breast cancer early and getting state-of-the-art cancer treatment are two of the most important strategies for preventing deaths from breast cancer. Breast cancer that’s found early, when it’s small and has not spread, is easier to treat successfully. Getting regular screening tests is the most reliable way to find breast cancer early.

“Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in New York State, but it doesn’t have to be,” said Cancer Services Program Manager Carolyn Handville. “Early detection can be the key to survival. Yearly mammograms and breast exams should be a vital part of your healthcare. The Cancer Services Program of the North Country can eliminate any financial obstacles to having yearly exams.”

In addition to free mammograms and clinical breast exams during Mammos in May, everyone that schedules an appointment can receive a free massage courtesy of Tammy Serguson, LMT.

I encourage all women ages 40 to 64, regardless of their insurance status, to call us today at 855-592-0830 and schedule an appointment for a free mammogram and massage during our ‘Mammos in May’ event, On Saturday, May 11th from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at CPH Imaging, 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam.”
