CANTON -- St. Lawrence County legislators at their October meeting passed two resolutions related to COVID-19.
The legislators voted to authorize the board chair to sign a contract with Health Research Inc. to enhance COVID-19 case investigations.
That motion says the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department will receive $308,906 “to increase staffing capacity to conduct rapid and complete case and contact investigations and report data.”
The money is part of a Centers for Disease Control (CDC)-sponsored cooperative agreement, the resolution says.
The legislators also passed a resolution modifying the Governmental Services Department budget for the county’s COVID-19 response. It would spend an extra $40,000 for sanitation supplies and personal protective equipment, which the resolution says is necessary to protect staff.
The $40,000 expenditure will be offset by greater-than-budgeted revenue of $40,000 from the county procurement card program, the resolution says. It also notes that keeping the purchases in a central stockroom and accounting for them opens up a potential FEMA reimbursement.
The board took the actions during their Monday, Oct. 5 meeting, which was streamed live on YouTube.
