POTSDAM — The town board has approved various funding amounts to local fire departments and several outside organizations and non-profits.
The board approved the funding amounts at its annual organizational meeting on Jan. 11.
Last year concerns over how organizational funding was handled led the board to restructure funding allotments and require regular requests from local groups, clubs and organizations.
In 2023, the following funding was approved for local fire departments: Potsdam Fire Dept $135,400, Norwood Fire Dept $85,269, Hannawa Falls Fire $6,200, and West Potsdam Fire $108,150.
The Potsdam Humane Society will be funded $43,567 for the dog control officer and $15,367 for shelter.
The following local senior citizens clubs will receive allotments: Debra Drive $2,000, Golden Agers $1,600, and Sandstoner $2,000.
The Potsdam Chamber of Commerce is slated to receive $5,000 and the Norwood Village Green is to receive $4,250.
The Clark Robinson, American Legion and Amvets posts will each get $400.
Potsdam Rescue Squad will get $34,452.
The Potsdam Museum is slated to receive $18,000 and Norwood Museum $7,000.
Norwood Recreation program is to get $18,000 and the Crary Mills Playground will get $750.
Finally the firm Pinto, Mucenski, Hooper, VanHouse and Company will receive $17,000 for the annual town audit and report.
