CANTON – A Potsdam man was charged with driving while intoxicated following a property damage accident early Saturday morning in the Town of Potsdam, reported New York State police.
Matthew S. Frary, 26, was charged with first-degree DWI, speed on special hazards and open container inside a motor vehicle.
According to state police, around 12:01 a.m, troopers responded to Morley-Potsdam Road for a property damage accident. An investigation determined a red 2015 Ford F-150 being operated by Frary, left the roadway entering the northern shoulder, causing him to strike a utility pole. While interviewing Frary, he was showing signs of impairment. Frary was arrested after failing Standard Field Sobriety Testing and transported to state police barracks in Canton for processing.
Frary refused to provide a chemical test. He was arraigned in the Town of Canton and released on his own recognizance.
