Potsdam hosting community forums on power savings program
POTSDAM — A series of community forum meetings are planned to discuss the town's community choice aggregation (CCA) program, dubbed the Town of Potsdam Community Power Program.
The meetings will be offered online, by phone or in person in some cases. The town’s CCA program is administered by Joule Community Power.
The company will procure electricity from renewable sources at a fixed rate through a bid process on the town’s behalf. All town residents will be enrolled in the program unless they choose to opt out.
“CCA programs can provide eligible residents and small businesses with access to renewable and standard electricity supply options at competitive rates, with no individual contracts for consumers. Benefits include support for renewable energy, competitive rates, and strong consumer protections,” said a press release from Joule.
“The program can have a measurable positive environmental impact by giving each of us a way to reduce our carbon footprint,” Joule said.
