North Country This Week
CANTON – It was an under-par golf season for the Partridge Run Golf Course and director Kevin Maginn.
At Wednesday night’s village board meeting, Maginn and course superintendent Scott Nickerson summed up the 2002 golf season.
Gross revenues totaled $370,176 up from $349,167 in 2021 and the highest number in the last three years.
Green fee revenues climbed from $130,022 in 2021 to $161,765 this season.
Membership revenue, however, dropped from $97,977 in 2021 to $86,366 this year.
Driving range revenue this year was $1,604, an increase from $1,076 last year.
“Membership dues was increased for the 2022 season which I feel contributed to the 11 percent decrease,” stated Magin in his report to the board. “Overall, the 2022 revenues were a very good indicator that 2023 will be even better.”
Maginn also noted his contract expires in 2023 and indicated his is interested in returning.
“I have no intentions of retiring. In the spring of 2023, I would like to get the board’s feelings on another 5-year contract,” Maginn said.
Maginn also issued praised to Nickerson.
Members have already commented about how the course changes he has made to my staff in a very positive manner,” Maginn stated.
One stumbling block at Partridge Run was the concession.
The lounge and restaurant this season were inconsistent in many areas mainly due to lack of help.
In his report, Maginn suggested installing a gas grill on the deck with a limited menu designed for golfers. He said an enticing lounge area and concession would only add to an already successful golf course.
