OGDENSBURG — The Ogdensburg City School District superintendent was given the Franky Award by organizers of the Ogdensburg Command Performances series at the last OCP performance of the season June 16.
Superintendent Kevin Kendall was presented with the award by OCP administrator Sally Palao.
At the closing show of each season, Ogdensburg Command Performances presents the Franky Award to an individual or an organization who has shown extraordinary commitment to OCP, said an OCP press release.
The award was named to honor Frank Schwartz, the founder and director for 27 years who in 1963 inspired seven determined citizens to bring the Performing Arts to Ogdensburg, OCP said.
Since 1992 when we 1st presented the award, each recipient has supported OCP generously with their time, energy, and resources,” Palao said during the presentation.
“Tonight’s awardee grew up in Ogdensburg and since he returned has demonstrated his belief that the performing arts add an important element to a community. On behalf of the volunteers and the Board of Trustees, it is with deep appreciation and respect that I proudly present the 2021 Franky Award to the Superintendent of the OCSD, Kevin Kendall,” Palao said.
