NORWOOD -- Village police are investigating a racial slur that was written on a door at the beach facility.
Norwood police said they were made aware of an act of vandalism at the village beach facility that allegedly took place sometime in the last few days.
A group of people reportedly broke into the building and attempted to steal money from inside. Before leaving, they scrawled a racial slur across the inside of the door where it was intended to be seen, officers said.
"Our agency does not condone and will not support this type of hate speech. Everyone who lives in, or visits our area deserves to feel safe and welcome. Activity of this nature is a crime in New York state for a reason and has no place in our community," police said.
Police ask that any anyone with information regarding this incident to call them at 315-353-2131. Tipsters do not have to identify themselves and can remain anonymous.
