OGDENSBURG — Congressman Lee Zeldin, gubernatorial candidate, will visit Ogdensburg Correctional Facility Saturday, Jan. 22 to discuss the prison’s pending closure ordered by current Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Zeldin, who has been named the presumptive nominee for Governor of New York by both the New York Republican and Conservative Parties, will join New York State Senator Patty Ritchie and other stakeholders to discuss the future of the site and those employed there.
Following the press conference, Zeldin will tour the facility. Due to facility regulations, this tour will not be open to press.
“Time and time again, Governor Kathy Hochul has refused to visit the Ogdensburg Correctional Facility, deciding to shutter it without hearing straight from the stakeholders involved,” Zeldin said. “Kathy Hochul might not be willing to visit Ogdensburg and listen to North Country residents, but I am. I’m looking forward to hearing their vision for the future of the Ogdensburg site and how we can ensure that all those employed by the facility are taken care of.”
