MASSENA -- State police have charged a Massena woman after an investigation into a traffic fatality that has been ongoing since late 2019.
On May 12, State Police charged 44-year-old Lisa L. Rupert of Massena, following an investigation of a Nov. 8, 2019 fatal car crash on State Route 37 in the town of Malone.
Police say the investigation revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Trail Blazer operated by Rupert was traveling east on State Route 37 when she crossed over the double-solid lines and struck a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country, operated by Charles V. Yaddow, 49, of Brasher, traveling westbound.
Franklin County Coroner Brian Langdon responded and pronounced Yaddow deceased at the scene. The front seat passenger of Yaddow’s vehicle, Kimberly S. Delles, 42, of Brasher, was transported to the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone where she was later pronounced dead, troopers said.
A one-year-child, who was in Yaddow’s vehicle, was not injured, police said.
Rupert was first transported to Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, and later transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington, Vermont for a lacerated spleen. She was charged with two counts of criminally negligent homicide and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.
Rupert was released on appearance tickets returnable in Town of Malone Court on May 20, at 4 p.m., police said.
