Maple producers running full steam in St. Lawrence County

Maple producers are running full steam throughout St. Lawrence County.

Steam is pouring out of sugar houses as evaporators boil down maple sap into syrup.

In addition to maple syrup, they are also making and selling maple cream, maple sugar candy, and other maple products.

A few are also serving pancake breakfasts, featuring their freshly made syrup.

Depending on temperature, maple season is expected to continue for the next few weeks.

Southville Maples is celebrating “sweet success,” in its tenth year as a maple producer.

Owned by Bruce and Kim Thompson, the family business continues to grow, and it now produces an average of 2, 500 to 3,000 gallons of maple syrup per year.
