Spring/summer Learn to Swim program with Northern TRIBS Swimming is open for children ages 5 years and older.
Beginning April 24, in Massena and Potsdam locations, lesson groups meet two times per week during a 4-week period for a total of eight lessons.
There is a choice of lesson days: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday groups. Lessons are from 5:00 - 5:45 p.m.
Parents are allowed to watch from the spectator area. During lessons, a swimmer will begin to progress through five stations developing their knowledge of the sport.
Lessons begin in Station 1 and are progressive. Swimmers accomplish goals such as floating and submerging your face, head-first entries, kicking for distance, wall turns, and swimming freestyle & backstroke.
Each section is $75.
After swimmers complete Station 5 (pre-competitive) they can swim 25 yds Freestyle and Backstroke. These swimmers are encouraged to join stroke school (competitive), which is an extension of lessons where advanced swimmers learn breaststroke and butterfly, how to swim an individual medley and will continue to refine skills while building endurance.
