CANTON – Environmental activist and congressional candidate Donald Hassig, 55, Colton, was arrested last Thursday at the St. Lawrence County Courthouse.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies took Hassig into custody after he allegedly was verbally abusive with county personnel and, after being asked to leave the building, refused.
Court officers tried to remove him from the building and he became combative, deputies said.
He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
An order by Village Justice Galvin prohibits Hassig from protesting and conducting demonstrations on county property, in light of his alleged history of demonstrations on county property.
