CANTON -- Wade Megan, son of Ron Megan and Dave and Lainey Scott has been named captain of the Boston University hockey team for 2012-13 hockey season.

A senior, Megan took home the title of the Co-Most Improved Player during the 49th annual Friends of Boston University hockey banquet held recently in Boston, Mass.

After scoring a combined 13 goals in his first two seasons with the Terriers, Megan experienced a breakout 2011-2012 season leading the team with 20 goals.

“We are extremely pleased with his effort and his growth, and we are very excited to have him back next season. He was pretty consistent from day one," aid Coach Jack Parker.

"Am I surprised that he became a goal scorer for us? Not at all. We expected him and recruited him to be a goal scorer.”

He added, “ He really flowered and grew into a (goal scorer) this year. From the get- go, he was in better shape, he was more confident and he played that way.”

Megan was named a Hockey East top performer six different times during the course of last season.

He is a native of Canton and was a 2009 NHL draft pick for the Florida Panthers. He graduated from South Kent Prep School in South Kent, Conn. in 2009 and played hockey under the guidance of coach Geoff Maratollo where he had two stand out seasons as a junior and senior.

His family is very proud of him and his accomplishments and says for all of his success, he has stayed true to himself and extremely humble.

He is the grandson of Ken and Jill DeLucia, George Burtch and Bill and Jo Megan, all of Alexandria Bay. He is also the brother of Tarryn Megan and Cory, Kyle and Taylor Scott.
